Overview of Digital Signage Mirrors
Digital signage mirrors are the newest innovation in the digital
signage advertising industry. Digital signage delivers advertising
messages in public venues in the form of LCD, LED, and plasma displays.
The concept is also known as digital out of home advertising or DOOH and
digital signage mirrors are the latest addition to this form of
advertising.
Recently the company LuxuryTec which specializes in stereoscopic 3D
technology unveiled a new Mirror Image Digital Signage Network and has
developed a strategic partnership to provide 3D digital signage mirrors
that do not require the use of 3D glasses.
How a Digital Signage Mirror Works
The new digital signage mirror is based on stereoscopic technology
and contains a digital display which is framed in stainless steel
housing. The mirror image displays an advertisement when the mirror is
not in use and contains a motion sensor. The sensor is capable of
recording the consumer connection to the mirror in real time. When the
consumer approaches the mirror the advertisement disappears and it
changes into a reflective display so it the consumer can use it as a
fully functional mirror.
The images on the digital signage mirror are displayed in high
definition and high definition video and in a manner that taps into the
emotions of the consumer which is found to be effective in increasing
the retention of the information. The images are displayed with
stereoscopic imaging which is capable of recording visual information.
The stereoscopic information is displayed with patented N4D technology
which provides advertisers with a way to display their message in three
dimensional formats which capture the attention of the consumer and
creates an interactive and engaging experience.
The digital signage mirror is designed with WiFi infrastructure for
establishments that wish to install multiple units. Instead of trying to
find a place for hundreds of wires the mirror can be operated with a
wireless connection which simply involves the use of an ADSL/WiFi
router, local area network connection (LAN), and an Internet connection.
To change the advertisement content on each digital signage mirror the
administrator can accomplish this from a single office computer
How Digital Signage Mirrors are Used
Digital signage mirrors will be used in public venues where this a
high amount of traffic such as airports, public restrooms, malls, retail
dressing rooms, arenas, stadiums, and any other place where there is a
large demographic audience. The Mirror Image Digital Network will offer
contracts to advertisers that include planning purchase, and market
research.
Digital Signage Mirrors on the Flip Side
Under development is also a digital signage mirror that performs the
opposite functions of the mirrors on the Mirror Image Digital Network.
The mirror captures the consumer's attention when they see their
reflection and as they move closer to the mirror advertisements appear.
This type of digital signage mirror operates on the premise that
consumers are normally drawn to mirrors and always tend to check their
reflection when they pass a mirror or whenever a mirror is available.
Most consumers also slow down when they pass a mirror and rarely resist
looking at their reflection.
The mirror allows enough time for the consumer to view their reflection
and then displays an advertisement as soon as they move closer. The
advertisement does not detract from the full function of the mirror and
instead the advertisement appears in the corner of the mirror and then
slowly moves around the edges so you can still use the mirror and view
the advertisements simultaneously.
This type of digital signage mirror has not been developed to its
maximum capabilities however it will eventually be used in areas such as
public restrooms, dressing rooms, retail establishments, and other
public venues such as storefronts, airports, and restaurants.
Digital Signage Mirrors Are the Next Step
The digital signage advertising industry has been growing at
astounding rates due to the increase in new technologies and the
Internet as a communications tool. Research studies have shown that the
average consumer is starting to ignore conventional methods of
advertising and are not retaining the information that is viewed with
this type of advertising. As a result, marketers have had to resort to
new and innovative technologies to engage the consumer and create an
interactive experience which aids in information retention and in turn
increases revenues for advertisers.
Digital signage mirrors represent the next generation in digital signage
advertising and will help many advertisers reach their target audience
in a more cost effective manner while engaging the consumer in an
interactive experience
